Solar panels are a great way to live off grid. This book not only discusses having your house off grid but also how to have a solar powered RV, van or even boat. Learn everything from figuring out how much power you need to designing and building your solar power, this book has it all. I can’t wait to start installing solar panels on our house.

This is a collection of books that teaches you how to go off grid and thus become more independent. So, the 1st book focuses on that. The next shows you how it is possible in an urban area. I appreciated that later in the book the author shows how to go off grid on a smaller scale if you need it. This covers things like campers, RVs, caravans, etc. This could be so useful and really make you more independent, so I found that super helpful. the book teaches you all the equipment you will need as well as how to install everything. The book also covers maintenance and how to store (and later use) the solar energy. I learned a lot from this book and I think it was well written.

If you plan on living off grid you need to choose your land, build small, produce electricity, have running water, etc. This book lists five states that are perfect for living off grid. I loved reading about the true stories of people who lives off grid. You can install your own solar power by using this book as a guide. Learn to design your own solar power system, installation, and the maintenance of your solar power. This book is full of everything you need to know to living off grid.

The “7 books in 1” would be more like pamphlets on their own.The whole first chapter of the 2023 edition is about unrestrained capitalism, mental health, climate change, sea-level rise, fossil fuels, etc. It even manages to mention Covid-19.There is content about the history of electricity and off-grid living in general (water, waste management, zoning, etc.).But want to know when, where, and what size to fuse a solar array? Nope.How to crimp MC4 connectors? Nope.Interested in 48-volt systems instead of 12V or 24V? Nope.How to calculate what gauge wire to use in your system? Nope. You get “wire gauge depends on the amount of current it needs to carry. The more current it needs to carry, the bigger the gauge should be.”Basically if you knew absolutely nothing about electricity or solar power you could probably learn a few things from this book. But this content is way too sparse and shallow to use to actually build a working and safe solar power system.

This book was a huge disappointment- first off it is labeled as 7 books in one, but each ‘book’ is about 20 pages long. It’s basically a bunch of bullet points put together, with lots of spaces and blank parts of pages. It lists some (but far from all) of the things you would need to consider but doesn’t actually tell you how to size the system, choose any of the system components or how to put it together properly.If you are trying to learn how to build an off grid system, this book will not give you any knowledge or resources to start your project.

If you have zero knowledge on electrical, you might learn something. If you know that your fridge Is powered by ac, find another source for knowledge.
