I bought this power inverter because I bought a new Toshiba inverter microwave air fryer for my truck and when using the microwave it would come up with a power failure messageSo I thought I would give this one a tryIt actually works really greatI love the fact that when I run my APU it automatically uses the mains generator to run my appliances and when I turn the APU off it automatically switches to battery power through this power inverterThe built in transfer switch makes life easierGreat product with a nice Bluetooth ApoI would recommend this product to anyone driving a truck for a living

I was recently seeking a portable power inverter for use in my vehicle as well as my travel trailer for when I go camping. I happened to find the Potek 500W Inverter here and opted to give it a shot based on the price and because it looked like it would get the job done. Of course, there is a 1000W inverter; however, I donโt need anything with that much drag on my battery and am quite satisfied with 500W at this time based on my personal needs. If youโre a camper or need an emergency power supply (110 โ 125 VAC) when youโre on the go, then an inverter is what you need. I am not going to pretend that I know enough about electrical connections or currents in order to sell this to you in my review, but what I will do is present it how I intend to use it and have used it and you can decide from there. I havenโt a significant understanding of electrical systems, so I am a bit of a letdown there. However, as a โtypical user,โ perhaps this will review will help you as it would me!Here are some specs for those interested:Input voltage: 12.8-13.2 volts DC (VDC)Output voltage: 110-125 volts AC (VAC)Output frequency 60Hz +/- 3HzContinuous output power: up to 500 WWaveform: Modified Sine WaveEfficiency (Maximum): 90%Output power overload shutdown: 550+/- 50 WFuses: 30A (x2)2 NEMA AC Receptacles1 USB Port (2.0A)Can connect both to a battery (e.g., vehicle/deep cycle) and via 12V accessory plugOkay, now that specs are out of the way, letโs just talk about how the unit works and how it looks. I love the look of the unit, as I mentioned before, because it appeared like it would get the job done. I like that it looks professional and is not very large. In fact, the unit is smaller than a typical amplifier you would see in a vehicle for an audio system. In addition, the unit has four small notches on each of the bottom corners so that it can be mounted flush against a wall or other setup such as in a vehicle, trailer, etc. I will likely mount mine on a block of wood that is easy to set out with my battery on my trailer and at my vehicle should the need arise to use it.The unit performs very well and is extremely quiet. Iโve owned other inverters that kicked the cooling fan on within 30 seconds of use; however, this unit does not kick the fan on for quite some time, even under decent load (not full). I assume that if I maxed out the output power upon first turning the unit on, it would likely kick the fan on immediately.I love that this unit has two NEMA AC Receptacles, as I can connect my laptop and a mobile phone charger that requires something higher than 2A. For example, I use devices that use Quick Charge, and I need a higher amp charger for that to function, therefore connecting two units to the NEMA ports is convenient. Additionally, I can charge my Bluetooth headset or other lower-amp requiring device using the 1 USB port (2.0 A) (e.g., low-end tablet, Bluetooth Headset, speaker, portable Wi-Fi hotspot, Nintendo DS, etc.).Overall, I wasnโt able to overpower the unit during my use. Although I would not necessarily recommend it, I was able to connect an extension cord into the NEMA port and power an electric drill off of my battery (this is not pictured as I did not have my mobile device with me during that use). This was a great example of how I can use this inverter in a pinch when I am in need of power supply and all I have is a battery. The unit performs well, is quiet, doesnโt get extremely hot, and is easy to hide away in a compartment or under a seat โ donโt forget itโs mountable should that be necessary!I am quite pleased with this unit. I have placed it in my vehicleโs trunk at this time so that I can use it in a pinch should I need connected to power without being close to it. I travel for work quite a bit and am on the road constantly, which means I am not always near a power supply that is sufficient for my needs. Therefore, this unit will provide a much-needed connection point when I am on the road for extended periods. Additionally, it will be great for camping as an extra connection or in my shop that is not connected to AC power. If youโre in need of portable power, look no further!

Tip for buyers of this and other inverters: The head-splitting beeping sound CAN be disabled. It may or may not void your warranty so youโve been warned. You must (carefully) open the inverter when not connected to power, and look for the SMALL black cylinder *with no metal exposed* (do NOT touch those, those are high voltage batteries or something) that looks like ( โข ) from above. It wonโt be easy to see but it is under an inch high and the exterior is hard plastic, it is smaller than the battery things but generally larger than the little – I think theyโre called capacitors – battery looking things that you should leave alone too, but smaller than the bigger similar looking ones that are actually high voltage (100-200+ volts) batteries as far as I know, all of which are soldered to the tip of the circuit board.Double check that there is only one cylinder like the one you have identified, and that it is plastic and not something important the inverter needs to function; With a pair of (ideally insulated) needle nose pliers or anything similar that can grip, twist the little screamer in a circle until the base wiring is detached from the solder and the circuit board.Stuff and mount the annoying POS on a wooden plaque and hang over your fireplace with your other game trophies. Turn the inverter back on.It will function perfectly, and even the indicator light and auto-shutoff functions will be working still without issue; they will simply no longer have a shrill voice to scream at you with when your batteries are low.Potek customer support isnโt nearly as accessible as was described by some other reviewers but the thing is FAR more sturdy and well built than the other models of inverter Iโve (literally) burnt through, but the low voltage shutoff is killing its usability.I am considering wiring my battery bank to 18v so I can actually use this thing with the AC. Not sure how it would damage the inverter to do this since it can handle 15v charging voltage from an alternator fine, and actually seems to work much better altogether at 13+ Volts. If you are getting only 12.5-12.6 volts from your battery bank and the alternator isnโt running, this thing will turn off and scream at you (if you havenโt removed the little screamer) if you connect any significant power draw, such as an AC/heater or power tool. There is no way to turn off the low voltage shutoff to my knowledge, and customer support is essentially non-existent in 2020, contrary to older reports indicating Potek had been very helpful and accessible in the past.It could be my battery bank, most of them are newer AGM and the old ones have been refreshed with distilled water and can generally continue to power a 12v fridge/cooler, a pet fountain and anything else 12 volts for days or even a week after the potek has gone on strike due to low voltage. What is frustrating is that if the low voltage shutoff could be disabled this inverter would be more than powerful enough to do everything I need, but a lot of stuff like compressors cause the current to dip down to the 9, 8 or even 7 volt range for a short time when first starting up. So as a result of that I have rarely, actually I think never gotten this think you give me over 2000 watts at a time, even as a brief surge. Thatโs one fifth the advertised surge capacity.Alas, my quest for a true off-grid power solution continues. :/Edit: four stars.

So I purchased one and it came defective but Amazon helped me with the replacement the next day of me reporting it and it works good no complains on the replacement. I have it charging the work tablet, thermal imaging camara and cell phone everyday.

I bought this inverter to run low watt devices such as my 250 watt portable a/c . Works great and handles the load.

Update 9/18 – inverter works well with my 700watt microwave (draws 1100watt) and 1000watt airfryer. Seller sent new Bluetooth adapter for free (excellent support), and it is better. 2 issues 1) the Android app needs to be reset every time before using. – its a hasstle, but there is a workaround 2) I noticed my battery drain when in standby in Bluetooth mode. Its not a huge concern, and I have now started turning off the invertor after use (instead of using Bluetooth standby). Overall, I am happy with the purchase at this price point.Update 6/17 – increased 1 star after testing Invertor under load – tested with 700watt Microwave (which draws 1100watts). Bluetooth is still a bit unreliable and hence 1 star is reduced. Testing completed – I will be using the invertor next week when camping.Update – 6/16 – increased 1 star of review because Tech support reached out and sent a new bluetooth USB adapter which appears to be working better. The App is still has connection issues, but the workaround to connectivity issues is to reset storage or uninstall-reinstall app, and it works. Invertor must be in bluetooth mode – not in ON mode.Next step – I will test the invertor at full power, and then post a update.Original review of 6/14/2022I just bought it few days back – tested it and now installing it.Sharing my initial impression after unboxing and testing- 6/14/2022. Will share updates later.1. The positive – Invertor function works along with auto-matic bypass – have not load tested it.2. The positive – really good value for the features-capabilities.3. Bluetooth is unreliable enough to be a pain- Android app only connects to Invertor in Bluetooth mode, and the app stops connecting and needs to be reinstalled frequently. – the workaround of reinstalling or clearing storage every time it stops connecting is currently working, but not a good sign4. Total Lack of tech support- this is the biggest problem with this product. The US phone number listed in manual is disconnected. No response to email support. The facebook page listed in manual does not exist. – this is a serious problem and I reduced 3 stars due to this.

I bought an inverter May 2023. I used it four times then it stopped working. I have tried reaching out to the company about warranty or replacement for the inverter that stopped working and have had zero response. I have called and left messages. Iโve sent multiple emails Iโve sent the messages through the message system is there Website and no response whatsoever. The customer service with this company is nonexistent. I would not recommend anyone buying this product as you can get no support from them.Update after posting this review the customer service reached out and replaced the inverter and I had the new one in 3 days

I purchased this to provide a large capacity ups setup for my server farm. Each server has its own ups to provide enough power to shut it down gracefully. This inverter and battery bank I use to provide multiple hours of battery backup. With the auto transfer switch this works great. I also really liked the included cables for battery hook up. The transfer speed is too slow to use without an ups between the inverter and server. But overall it works like a champ for me with some trade offs to consider. Some things I donโt like. Fan is obnoxiously loud when it turns on, which is the instant the inverter is running. No temp control . Also sometimes when there is a quick power outage and it switches to inverter then back to utility the fans stay on until you turn the inverter off and on. Even though itโs not running on inverter power. The inverter archs a crazy amount when hooking it up to a battery. It made hooking up difficult and I ended up buying a battery disconnect switch so I could hook up the negative without massive arching. I couldnโt hook it up initially as the bolt kept popping out of the cable then touching it to the battery. The other thing I donโt like is even when itโs on utility power it drains the battery. Battery a 200ah agm went from 12.8v 100% full to 12.2v 60% full in 6 days. You have to keep a charger connected at all times.Personally itโs a fine inverter. Not ideal for a server backup, as it canโt command the severs to shutdown, and itโs slow to transfer power. But as a large capacity setup itโs ideal. Also the blue tooth app is buggy.

Overall the inverter works great. I knocked 2 stars off because the Invertermate app does not work on newer Android versions. Neither my Android 11 or 13 devices can install the app. It only works on really old Android versions. The iOS app works fine.

This runs a house window A/C unit in my vehicle just fine, as well as a 120V blower fan and some misc stuff off and on. However it will not run an 1800 watt air compressor of mine. Long story short, no high watt devices work well with inverters- took a lot of research to find that out.I have two complaints about the design. One is that the receptacles are bunched together too closely and it is hard to plug things in. The cord ends on larger devices overlap onto the neighboring outlets. Also, the lugs on the cable ends, all six cables on both ends, are all the same size. So the hot cables will not fit over a positive battery post bolt. I had to cut them off and install larger lugs just to test it out.
