This works way better than the RENOGY junk. only complaint I have is the app they want you to download is in Chinese and English on the screen. I found a better app that works much better. I believe it’s the original manufactures of this controller. The app is in the iOS store under SRNE . I’m using the 100 watt CIGS panel icon the roof of my ford maverick to keep the battery charged when my strobes are running as the maverick hybrid has o tiny 45AH battery for the 12 volt stuff under the back seat. I just mounted the controller next to the battery. I also use the load output to run all my extra lights and strobes so I can watch the current draw. It will run 20 amps out on the load. It may even have a voltage shut off too to monitor the battery. Haven’t played with that setting as I already have a battery monitor to shut down if it gets too low. The CIGS panel was mounted with 3M tape and it’s stayed on thru multiple car washes. Doesn’t seem to matter on angle . It’s sending over 6 amps of current on a normal day

Really liked the plug-n-play aspect of this controller set-up. A quick Email to the manufacturer confirmed that this charge controller would work with a 327W panel to charge a 36V golf cart battery bank. The panel provides ~50V/4-5A in strong sunlight and the controller works seamlessly to charge the batteries.The instruction booklet was accurate enough and online help has been quick to respond. My purchase was ~$149 at the time and I see the price has dropped further making it a great bang for the buck as long as it remains robust in its performance. With our moderate solar potential just south of the Canadian border, have not had to plug the cart into a wall-charger in weeks! The phone app is pretty useful, enabling the setting and tracking of several charging parameters as well as allowing a comparison between what the controller is providing vs what the cart meter is reading for state-of-charge. So far, very pleased and enthralled with the final build.

Charger works well, I have a pretty light load on there so I’m not pushing it but it’s pretty plug and play. The app leaves a lot to be desired and most of verbiage is clearly just google translated to English. Once on the app it clarifies that this is also just a repackaged shiner 2430. Take that for what you may. Also no backlight on the display, which causes me to exclusively use the app.Over all I’m happy with the purchase, but if I am to buy another one I think I’d fork over a little more money for a better user interface

This MPPT charge controller is very simple, but does the job. It is a rebranded Helios MS-4840N, and that model is what shows up for the bluetooth connection. I just hooked it up a day ago, and it’s been mostly cloudy, so I’ll update this review once there’s been more sun. There was some sun for an hour or two early this morning around 9am, and it recorded a max charge power of 207 watts into a 50% discharged battery from a 400 watt series pv string angled straight south. Not bad for 9am, since the sun was at a severe angle off perpendicular from the panels.Pros:The case is all aluminum and solid. Integral heat sink fins on the back. This is a newer model compared to the Renogy and Rich solar clones and has better specs. Up to 150V PV input, so you can put 7 typical 100W panels in series. Most others can only do 100v which limits you to 4 panels in series. This unit will also work with 12, 24, 36, and 48v batteries, so you can get more watt-hour capacity without huge power cables, and max out your pv input to 2400w with 48v battery. Most other units in this price range can only work with 12/24v. I’m getting decent range with the bluetooth connection. I am just in range from inside my house, with the controller inside my garage over 40 feet away. No problem connecting with the app when within the stated range. The 4 wire terminals for pv input and battery output easily held 10AWG wire and I believe can take up to 6AWG. The voltage reading is pretty accurate. If you’re seeing a big difference from the display to whats at the battery terminals, you may be using undersized or too long cables.Cons:Glass face plate looks great, but seems a bit odd considering how rugged the rest of this is, being a solid piece of metal. The manual states “baclit lcd display”, it’s a simple 4 digit 7-segment lcd that displays either battery volts, SOC, temp, and error codes. There’s just one button on the front. You can cycle through those 4 values, or long press to change some settings, but you’ll need to use the app to change most settings. The SOC% is based on the battery voltage for the battery type selected. The app will show near real-time stats, such as PV volts, battery volts and charging amps while you’re connected, but this unit does minimal data logging. It only reports ONE data point per day of the following parameters – max charge power, max and min batt voltage, cumulative charge power. It doesn’t report anything for discharge as this unit has no load terminals and therefore no shunt to monitor them. Also note, a day to this unit is marked by pv input, not a calendar, so if the pv input drops out it will count that as night and reconnecting will start a new day. Also, I don’t see any indication of battery charge mode, bulk, absorption, float, etc.Overall, it’s a great unit for the price. Perfect for an rv to mount in a storage bay where you won’t need to look at it, because once it’s setup, you won’t have to check on it. Or use the app if you want to check. If you want to log a bunch of data, get a battery shunt logger.

This MPPT controller has been a solid part of our 400W RV solar setup for over a year. I have it connected to a coulometer/shunt and this controller’s reported charging watts is not too far off. What units like this (any brand) can’t accurately show is current battery charge level. Especially while charging, trying to determine the how full a lithium battery is by voltage alone is never going to be that accurate–that’s why you should having a separate battery monitoring setup if you need to know your exact remaining amount.I did have an intermittent issue with the first unit where it would operate flawlessly for about a month and then charging watts would go way down to like 30 in full sun on a < 50% battery and it needed a PV power cycle to kick back in to full charge. These kind of intermittent issues are awful to try to get support on with many companies. At BougeRV, within a few quick emails over a couple of days, they asked to have me ship back so they could troubleshoot and sent me a brand new one to keep instead. They paid for shipping both ways.There are a lot of non-mainstream brands for solar equipment and saving money upfront is not always worth it when you end up having issues down the road. I've found that BougeRV is one of the good ones and support is on par or even better than mainstream brands.One wish: BougeRV, please make an MPPT controller or battery monitor with wifi built in so I can remotely monitor everything in my RV when I'm away and know if I need to address a low battery issue before the internet kicks out.

I had this in my motorhome. It worked flawlessly. It was so perfect to be able to tuck the controller in the closet out of site and only have the small remote out to view the readings. I recently bought a Renogy Rover for my minivan camper…. I completely regret not buying this again. It felt so much more substantial/durable than the Rover!

This BougeRV Co. really got me good. Contacted them about the Remote Monitor, the RM-6, the LCD display was cracked. Had this big arrow across it, definitely was not going to work.Discussed with them the problem, told them I had looked at getting a replacement but sellers wanted twice or three times the worth. Plus ridiculous shipping equal to cost. It retails for $11, from China supplier that makes it.I had rec’d the 40A MPPT and didn’t have time to set the system up. Never opened the box, put it on the shelf.Finally found some time and opened it up to see what I had. Damn, the monitor is busted. Been there the whole time and I never checked it out. Return time had ended and I was up a creek.I contacted them to see if I could get another RM-6 for a reasonable cost. They had me take photos of it, one of the back with the funny looking digital sticker and bar code.They got back to me, said it would take 10 to 15 days to ship. Then they notified me of the cost…..nothing. They replaced the RM-6 for free. Not even shipping. Asked me if that was ok…..well, as we say in Texas….Hell Yeah!I’m impressed with BougeRV’s commitment to their products and customer service. Very impressive.I inquired about their manufacturing providing them with the 60A MPPT. In doing research I found the very same MPPT’s under another name and found the 60A. Was just a little more. Recently, found the 60A listed on AMZ under the other name, but ouch! The price was way higher.BougeRV got back to me concerning the 60A, they do not sell it as of yet, but will. They will notify me when they carry it.Reason I chose BougeRV MPPT was I liked the stand alone ability, no stupid extra WiFi Dongle to buy. No need to download an App to work it. No extra downloads to a computer to operate the perimeters, just a simple easy to use Remote Monitor. Hell, you don’t even need that to set it up and run in factory mode.Keep It Simple…..Stupid! Simple is better. How many of you have fought one of those darned HE washing machines with some Smart Mode junk? Darned thing takes two hours, doesn’t use enough water, and your clothes are still dirty.Yup! I like simple. Do your research….then decide. Cost comparison and customer service and satisfaction knocked it out of the park.

Here is a further updateThe BougeRV 40 amp MPPT charge controller has now been working fine for over 7 months. I have also doubled the panels to 2,000 watts now. It appears my issue with the lost settings was due to going into the setting page with a poor blue tooth connection. They only rate it for a 15 foot range, but it seems to work pretty well to much further. I can connect to about 40 feet. But that is when I had it lose the settings. Monitoring it at distance does not seem to cause any issues. But if you go to the setting page, be closer than 20 feet to be safe. With the 2,000 watts of panels, I have now had a week where it has produced over 10 KWHs every day. The only small issue is when it is cranking at 25 amps, it’s getting a bit hot. It never has an issue, but when the case get’s over 50C you don’t want to touch it for long. I added a temporary fan with this hot weather, and it dropped the temp to 36C in a few minutes. I may make a permanent fan setup with a temp switch to turn it on when it goes over 40C.Total production is over 1.3 Megawatt Hours to date.This is an update.Since my initial review, The tech support at BougeRV has gotten back to me. We are still in contact and they are trying to replicate the issue I had. The problem is rare. It has been another month and the controller has been working fine without losing settings again. The days are getting longer and it is really starting to produce solid power. With just 1,000 watts of panels, it produced over 4 kilowatt hours in one day in January.This is my original review…For the price, the unit seems well made and it has been working well for 3 months. I am only having one issue. Three times now, I noticed it stopped putting out current, even though the sun was shining and the battery was only at 75% charged. When I looked into it, the BougeRV charge controller defaulted back to the factory settings, auto voltage and flooded battery type. It does not hurt anything because the default voltage is lower, but it ends up stopping charge too soon. After I re-enter my charging parameters under USE (user) mode, and it goes back to working fine again. Hopefully they will find the cause and fix it.

Replace my fail 40A Renology Rover controller( plastic case melted, overheated at battery connection point) with this BougeRV 60A unit. So far so good. Run cool from 500w solars. No issues. I consider Renology solar app historical trace data is slightly better. BougeRV controller reports slightly less historical data. Will recommend to use SRNE app ( can plot more data) instead of BougeRV provided app. Bouge build really solid with fat connection points probably good for 4-6 AWG wires. Overall happy with product.
